US Government includes Myanmar ministries, army conglomerates to trade blacklist

  In the trade blacklist, the US has included Myanmar Home Affairs Ministry, Defence Ministry, and two conglomerates MEC and MEHL.  The Commerce Department of the United States has decided to include the Myanmar Home Affairs Ministry, Defence Ministry, and the conglomerates' companies MEHL- Myanmar Economic Holdings Public Company and MEC- Myanmar Economic Cooperation into its trade blacklist. The Bureau of Industry and Security of US has also added to the Entity list four entities- two Burmese security services and military entities and two commercial entities that are operated and owned by one of those entities. The decision has been taken in the light of pro-democracy protests in Myanmar as they continue to intensify despite the crackdown by Junta. The military also fired upon the pro-democracy protestors, killing 38 people. French billionaire and MP Olivier Dassault killed in helicopter crash

  Olivier Dassault was the eldest son of Serge Dassault, the billionaire industrialist, whose group owns Le Figaro newspaper and also builds the Rafale warplanes. The French Member of Parliament and billionaire Olivier Dassault died in a helicopter crash on March 7, 2021. He was 69 years old. Dassault, a lawmaker with the center-right Republicans Party, was killed in Calavdos in Normandy, Northern France. He was last seen in a public engagement on March 5 in Beauvais near Paris with Interior Minister Gerard Darmanin and Prime Minister of France Jean Castex. The President of France Emmanuel Macron took to Twitter to pay his tributes to Dassault and stated that he never ceased to serve our country and to value its assets and his sudden death is a great loss. The first-ever summit of the leaders of QUAD took place in a virtual mode on March 12, 2021. PM Modi participated in the discussion between the leaders. The summit also witnessed the participation of the Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihide Suga, President of the United States Joe Biden, and Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison. No evidence of increased risk of blood clots from vaccine: AstraZeneca

The European Medicines Agency defended AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine, saying that the preliminary probe showed that the batch of AstraZeneca vaccines used in Austria was likely not to blame for the nurse's death. AstraZeneca  defended its COVID-19 vaccine on March 12, 2021 saying that there was  "no evidence of an increased risk"  of  blood clots.  The European and UK medicines regulators also defended AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine saying that the link between the vaccine and blood clots has not been confirmed and that rollouts should continue.   This comes after a group of European countries-  Denmark ,  Norway  and  Iceland  temporarily suspended the use of AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine on March 11, 2021.  Bulgaria became the latest  to follow suit on March 12 with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov ordering a temporary halt to vaccination using AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine until the European Medicines Agency "rejects all doubts" about the vaccine

US to support Indian manufacturer Biological E’s efforts to produce 1 billion COVID-19 vaccines

The United States International Development Finance Corporation- DFC announced that it will be supporting Biological E’s efforts of producing 1 billion doses of Coronavirus vaccines by the end of the year 2022. The vaccines of COVID-19 by the Indian manufacturer will be produced with stringent regulatory authorization- SRA and /or WHO Emergency Use listing including Johnson & Johnson Vaccines. Increasing vaccination rates to protect communities: The Chief Operating Officer of DFC, David Marchick highlighted that expanding the vaccine manufacturing, especially the Coronavirus vaccines and boosters will help in increasing the vaccination rates and in protecting communities around the world.
